2021 Waterproof flooring trends

Waterproof floors are trends in and of themselves, and, up until recently, there were only two choices: tile and luxury vinyl. While both are terrific, two new waterproof flooring options have already captured the attention of retailers.

Waterproof (vinyl) flooring

Think of this as an amped-up version of luxury vinyl! It's engineered to be even thicker and more durable and comes with either the WPC (wood plastic composite) or SPC (stone plastic composite) cores that never peel or ripple no matter how much water there is or for how long.

It is just as stylish as hard-wearing; it comes in wood, stone, and ceramic tile designs, taken digitally and including micro beveling and embossing for added depth, dimension, and textured looks. Want a waterproof, semi-rigid wood look floor that has the hard surface feeling underfoot? Ask about Stone Core LVP (also known as Rigid Core Flooring.)

Waterproof laminate flooring

Long recognized as a terrific, affordable alternative to hardwood, it was often limited in some installations because of wood products in its composition. The waterproof version features a non-wood construction that is spillproof and makes it possible to install anywhere in the house, including kitchens and baths.

And speaking of tile

Large formats and wood looks make tile even more trendy today. A wood-look tile combines the beauty of wood with durability, easy-care, and waterproofing. It comes with raised grains, textures, and various colors, including high variation, and the planks can be cut into any size.

Luxury vinyl

When it comes to getting the most value out of your decorating dollar, this product is king! Nature-inspired, true-to-life images of wood, stone, and tile are created with high-definition photography, including micro beveling and embossing. Following all the trends, you can get gray wood look floors, slate surfaces, or colorful geometric ceramic tile patterns, among others.

This can be cut into long planks or square tile-sized pieces used with or without grout.
